Why your next website could cost far less to run
Lots of small businesses, clubs and lodges pay a monthly fee to a website builder for a site that rarely changes. Over a few years that adds up to hundreds of pounds, and the sites are often slow on phones.
A simpler way to build
Most small websites are really a handful of pages, some photos and a news section. They can be built as simple, fast pages and hosted on a global network such as Cloudflare, often for little or nothing beyond the cost of the domain name.
What you gain
- Lower running costs. No monthly builder subscription.
- Speed. Simple pages load almost instantly, which visitors and Google both like.
- Security. With no login pages or plugins to attack, there's far less to go wrong.
- Easy updates. Send your text and photos, and the new story can be live the same day.
A real example
When we reviewed our own domains and hosting, including the websites we look after for Lodge Thistle No. 127 and PGRAC Ayrshire, moving to this approach and cancelling services we no longer needed cut the annual bill by more than 80%.
Is it right for you?
If your site is mostly information, news and photos, almost certainly. If you need a large online shop or complex booking system, a dedicated platform is usually better, and I can help you choose.
